The Art of Japanese Painting

Japan is known for its many extraordinary customs and traditions. The Japanese people have a long history of elegant rituals. Even the art of Japanese painting has its very own distinctive style. Japanese paintings can add a genuine elegance to any room.

The great thing about a Japanese painting is that it adds a certain grace to any room you put it in. They are very elegant to look at and the colors are well balanced and can easily promote a peaceful feeling of serenity.

Although some paintings in Japan are now influenced by Western styles, they are still very distinctive, often reflecting Japan's rich cultural and artistic heritage. Popular styles of Japanese paintings include landscapes, famous places, beautiful geishas and everyday activities of Japanese people.

Paintings by John William Waterhouse

I really enjoy the work of John William Waterhouse. I own and proudly display some of his prints at my home. In this collection, I especially like the study on frame twenty.
